Our programs reflect the belief that experienced trial lawyers have a vital role beyond the courtroom: educating the public, upholding constitutional principles, and fostering a more civil society.

Through lectures, panel discussions, school outreach, and community forums, we provide opportunities for seasoned advocates to engage with the public on foundational issues like the Constitution, the justice system, and the importance of respectful discourse. These events are designed not just to inform—but to inspire trust, understanding, and civic responsibility. But it’s not all podiums and panels—we also know how to enjoy each other’s company. Whether we’re sharing stories over dinner, attending CLEs in remarkable locations, or traveling together for events, our programs and events offer the perfect balance of purpose and camaraderie. It’s serious work, with a great time built in.

Civics Summit

Civics Summit

The Civics Summit is a program for teachers. Houston-ABOTA sponsors a teacher for this event each year. It provides teachers critical information and resources, with particular focus on:

  • Recognizing and deciphering misinformation and disinformation
  • Equipping students to advocate for the causes they care about, and
  • Tools for engaging in debate and disagreement with civility and mutual respect

Teachers leave the Civics Summit equipped with real-world insights, classroom-ready materials, and a renewed commitment to shaping responsible citizens. They return to their students empowered to foster critical thinking, civic responsibility, and a deeper understanding of our legal system—lessons that will stay with these young minds for a lifetime.
